The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a new Technician Assistant within the School of Engineering, which is in the Isaac Newton Building located on the vibrant Brayford Campus in the heart of the city.

The school was founded in 2009 in collaboration with Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery and other employers in the engineering sector and, at the time of its formation, was the first new engineering school to be established in the UK for over 20 years. It offers a dynamic, collaborative, inclusive and rewarding environment with excellent facilities and strong industry links.

This new role sits within the School of Engineering’s Technical Support Team and will support a wide variety of undergraduate teaching activities across a diverse range of engineering disciplines.

The post holder will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, and on-going support of the School’s large inventory of teaching apparatus and will have further responsibilities for assisting students with their practical activities both in a classroom environment and for individual and group-based projects.

While the role primarily focuses on undergraduate teaching activities, the post holder will also be required to provide some support for research and will be expected to develop suitable levels of competence in workshop practices, 3D printing and in support of IT. The holder will also be expected to be involved in the identification of replacement parts, consumables and potential upgrades to teaching equipment and to contribute to health and safety, outreach, open days and other recruitment events.

The post offers an exceptionally supportive work/life balance with a generous leave allocation and many other staff benefits, and would suit newly qualified or early career engineers or apprentices seeking to broaden their horizons and with a passion for nurturing the next generation of Engineers in an HE environment.

Applicants should have a good understanding of a broad range of engineering principles, be resourceful, enthusiastic and computer literate with a strong work ethic and should be an excellent team player within the Technical Support Team.
