IMMI is seeking an experienced Compliance Manager. The person in this role is responsible for Trade and Customs Compliance and related duties for IMMI Inc. and Subsidiaries. This includes creating, improving, and enforcing processes and procedures covering the regulation of international trade, including export control, Customs, and import procedures. Ensure risks are monitored, fulfilled, and laws are not violated. This position will work with various global functional teams to identify, assess, and develop actions plans with respect to international trade compliance, cost reduction, and standardization.

LOCATION: Onsite- Westfield, IN

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Research and stay up to date with current customs regulations and ensure ongoing compliance across the organization
  • Ensure adherence to processes and procedures that comply with local country customs
  • Develop and manage business relationships with brokers and other consultants to ensure cost effective compliance with customs requirements
  • Identify local country duty and incentives and subsequently develop processes to ensure the maximum realization of these benefits.
  • Act as a lead on projects that involve customs-related issues
  • Develop and maintain import/export procedures manual, including controls to ensure compliance and develop an audit system to ensure compliance is maintained
  • Manage government audits for customs compliance, including the negotiation of issues and ultimate resolution of identified issues
  • Resolution of customs broker related issues on imports and purchases
  • Work with appropriate brokers to set up and maintain tariff classification and other related information on all new parts and finished goods
  • Support IMMI’s subsidiaries with any customs related issues that directly related to Oracle / Annex 24, 31 interfaces and reconciliations; Work with Mexico to get approval for and maintain IMMEX and Rule 8 approved HS codes
  • Implement systems and procedures that will identify product that may not be NAFTA eligible; monitor and recommend options that minimize IMMI’s net duty cost
  • Oversee the NAFTA Certification process, includes supplier certification of raw materials and purchased parts and related party sales
  • Monitor and maintain data required for Importer Security Filing
  • Oversee and monitor post entry review of import documents from Customs Broker for accuracy
  • Oversee the NAFTA Determination process for finished goods sold to foreign related parties
  • Support Divisions on the classification of finished goods
  • For exports, determine jurisdiction, licensing end use and licensing requirements (if applicable) based upon the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and U.S. Customs Regulation (CBP). If license is required, prepare license application for filing, manage application, and track adherence.
  • Support the International Sales team with export related questions, including the qualification of additional free trade agreements
  • Administer and maintain watch list screening.
  • Coordinate efforts with Logistics personnel to minimize disruption of product and material shipments at international borders; coordination with and periodic review of Customs related work performed by personnel in other departments
  • Interpret and analyze applicability of trade agreements, particularly NAFTA
  • Ensure a global trade compliance program that adheres to the rules of Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and their worldwide equivalents.
  • Maintain Custom Systems (Thompson Reuters) for compliance
  • Compliance review for broker files, ADD/CVD applicability, entry, and ACE activities, making corrective actions on any findings.
  • Support the on-boarding, hiring, training, and mentoring of IMMI Mexico, UK, China team members

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Finance, Accounting, or related fields
  • Minimum 5+ years directing managing US import/export compliance including classifying products and technical data
  • Licensed Customs Broker certification preferred, but not required
  • Certified Customs Specialist designation preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency with HTSUS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule US)
  • Knowledge of legal requirements related to customs and US requirements to “controlled items,” the US Export Control Classification Number (ECCN), deemed import / export compliance, etc.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and ability to interpret the ITAR, EAR, OFAC, FCPA, FTR, C-TPAT, NAFTA, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for the position. Experience in conflict resolution required. Ability to manage and effectively motivate employees required.
  • Ability to travel internationally 25-40%
