The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center (HMTC) is a Holocaust Museum and education center in Glen Cove, NY. The center is a vibrant and active place providing a rewarding work environment.
We are currently looking for a Director of Education. Reporting to the Chairman of the Board, the Director of Education oversees the creation and implementation of student and adult educational programs; maintains core community relationships with schools, museums, non-profits and community members.
This position serves as the direct liaison between staff, volunteers, 2G and 3G Speakers and Survivors. Also, this position manages the Education Programming Coordinator, and oversees key tasks and assigns projects. In addition to day-to-day tasks, the Director of Education must maintain knowledge and upstanding of key developments in Holocaust education and scholarship.
Specifics include:
Student Programs:
The Director of Education is responsible for the creation and facilitation of programming for students’ k-12. This programming includes both Holocaust and Tolerance education. The programming must be pedagogically sound, focus on social emotional learning and, most crucially, be historically accurate. The Director of Education facilitates these programs through guided tours, both online and in person and by creating power-point presentations unique to schools and students as regards accessibility and equity.
Adult Programs:
The Director of Education is responsible for the creation and facilitation of programming for adult audiences, including but not limited to; Police, Nurses, Teachers and other educators. The Director of Education also creates and facilitates ongoing training for HMTC volunteers and teachers.
Law Enforcement and Society:
The Director of Education is responsible for conducting, revising, promoting and the training of personnel as regards the Law Enforcement and Society Program. The Director of Education coordinates with USHMM LEAS and ADL Washington and ADL NY regarding the growth and adaptation of the program. The Director of Education reports annually to USHMM LEAS and serves as the point person at conferences and gatherings in Washington, DC.
Educational Requirements: Bachelor of Arts: Educational studies and/or Administrative Education degree, Masters and /or Ph.D Holocaust and Genocide Studies

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
