Job description
The University of Manchester is highly respected across the globe as a centre of teaching excellence and innovative research and discovery. With 25 Nobel Prize winners among our current and former staff and students, and as part of the prestigious Russell Group of universities, we have a history of world firsts and brilliant discoveries, from splitting the atom to giving the world graphene.
We’re committed to world-class research, an outstanding student experience and social responsibility in everything we do. When you join our university, you become part of a truly diverse and international community of staff and students all focused on ensuring we are recognised globally for the benefits we bring to society.
The Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced communication professional to join our Internal Communication and Engagement Team. Working with Faculty and School TLSE (Teaching, Learning and Student Experience) colleagues you will lead student communications for the Faculty and support the wider internal communications strategy.
As a Student Communications Officer, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of dynamic communications and campaigns to the University’s student community - making our University’s narrative coherent, impactful and relevant to our students; placing the student experience at the heart of what we do. To achieve this, you will have the support of and collaborate with the Student Communication Officers in the Faculties of Humanities and Science and Engineering as well as the central student communications team and the University’s Head of Student Communications.
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience of developing and delivering communications, campaigns and associated engagement activities, ideally across student/youth audiences. You will have highly developed skills in copywriting, presenting, digital content creation, social media, and the management of end-to-end, dynamic campaigns; along with excellent planning, organisational and project management skills.
As an equal opportunities employer we welcome applicants from all sections of the community regardless of age, sex, gender (or gender identity), ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and transgender status. All appointments are made on merit.
