Terran Orbital is seeking an exceptional Flight Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2023. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing software for space and aerospace applications and be eager to learn and contribute to our cutting-edge projects. Engineering interns will report to the engineering management team. This position is an incredible opportunity for motivated students to shape the outcome of our commercial and defense space capabilities and develop engineering skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software engineers and other team members to design, develop, and test flight software systems
- Assist in the development of flight control software and other mission-critical software components
- Support software integration and testing activities, including the development of test plans and procedures
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of software development processes and practices
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s or post-graduate degree program in an engineering discipline and have at least one semester of classes remaining after the internship
- Ability to work full-time, on-site for 10 to 12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June 2023
- Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, or similar languages
- 3+ months of applied engineering experience (internship, laboratory, and team project experience is applicable)
- Ability to self-govern with minimal supervision, establish workload priorities, and utilize efficient time management practices to achieve assigned tasks
- Impeccable attention to detail and a sense of urgency
Additional Differentiator
- Experience with quad-copter projects, working with microcontrollers
- Hands-on experience with satellite architectures and missions as part of the university team
- Participation in any clubs such as CubeSat club, Robotics club

Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role with heavy computer usage. The position may require the incumbent to move files, walk around the office, and bend/stand as necessary.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
