Sunrise Senior Living operates a number of different brands of communities for seniors. As a result, this position’s area of responsibility may differ among the various brands and states. Despite the differences in responsibilities between the brands and states, the following are a core set of duties common to this position.
Essential Duties: Housekeeping Responsible for performing general housekeeping duties in resident suites, public areas and support areas as assigned while meeting or exceeding Sunrise’s quality standards Performs cleaning duties according to schedule in assigned areas such as resident suites, bathrooms, common areas and offices Sweeps, dusts, dust mops, and wet mops all flooring; spot cleans and vacuums floors, rugs, carpets and runners Cleans, sanitizes and polishes both lavatory, shower and sink fixtures Dusts, washes, sponge mops, sanitizes and hand shampoos furniture; dusts desk and floor lamps, cleans and polishes glass surfaces, woodwork, walls and windowsills Before entering, always knock on resident’s doors and respect their privacy during the cleaning process Before entering, always knock on public restroom doors and wait for a response before beginning the cleaning process Maintains equipment and supplies needed to perform work in a clean and orderly condition Responsible for transporting supplies, to include clean and soiled linen, to the appropriate storage and collection areas Responsible for trash collection and removal and for maintaining trash receptacles and collection areas in a clean, sanitary manner Essential Duties: Laundry Responsible for collecting, cleaning and redistributing the community laundry Responsible for properly sorting, washing and drying linens following the approved laundry procedures Responsible for folding, counting and stacking linens following approved laundry procedures Responsible for routinely inspecting linens for wear and tear, identifying worn and torn linens and following the community’s Standard Operating Procedure for damaged linens Responsible for maintaining the commercial laundry in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition Essential Duties: Resident Care Assists Care Managers and Department Coordinators with resident care when requested Practices positive resident relations following our Sunrise Shared Values; respond to resident requests and direct resident feedback and requests to immediate supervisor and or Care Manager Reviews, reads, notates and initializes Daily Log to document and learn about pertinent information and any resident’s physical and behavioral changes Essential Duties: Safety and Risk Management Ensures cleaning chemicals are kept stored and locked when not in use Ensures any cords, carts, equipment and other hazards are kept out of the way at all times, not blocking exits and in compliance with fire codes Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with OSHA requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment and to prevent accidents Complies with all infection control techniques, placement of bio-hazard containers and removal techniques, procedures and policies Maintains communication with Supervisor regarding inventory of products and services per Sunrise procurement procedures and service standards Essential Duties: Environmental Adaptability Team members may be exposed to blood and or body fluids with potential exposure to hazardous materials and infectious diseases Working in an environment that may have possible exposure to unpleasant odors; possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS manual and continuous exposure to residents who may be ill, confused and having unpleasant days Essential Duties: Training, and Contributing to Team Success Actively participates as a member of a team and committed to working toward team goals Demonstrates in daily interactions with others, our Team Member Credo Committed to serving our residents and guests through our Principles of Service Contributes in the overall engagement programs and processes (customer and team member engagement) including participating in the team member engagement survey and engagement improvement planning workshops Attends regular meetings; Town Hall, Department Team Meetings, Cross Over, and others as directed by the Supervisor / Department Coordinator Classification and Training Required Classification: Non-Exempt This position is non-exempt and is subject to the overtime rules under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act
