Summary
Le Colonial restaurant is looking for a professional Lead Prep Cook who can help prepare meals as per our standard recipes. He/ she shall posses the Art Of Making Dumplings/ Ravioli/ and Rolls, It's a big Plus. The Lead Prep Cook will perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating meal portions, cleaning food, cooking meals and keeping a sanitized work area. We are seeking an individual who has experience in the food service industry and is committed to impeccable food presentation and garnishing, which is important for impressing our guests and creating repeat business.
A great prep cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will be deft and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, etc.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
- Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Qualifications:
- 4+ years’ cooking and kitchen administration experience
- High school diploma/GED is preferred
- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Familiar with industry’s best practices
- Familiar with Safety and Sanitation standards, Food handler certificate is required
- Familiar with Covid-19 safety protocols
- High level of professionalism
- Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Excellent verbal communication and organization skills
- Punctual
- Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
- A team player with good communication skills
Physical Demands:
- Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- Very good physical condition and endurance
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time on a regular basis
- Ability to work/ stand on your feet for eight hours or more a day
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This position has a schedule that fluctuates based on business needs. The duties of this position usually require either daytime or evening-shift work, and weekend and holiday availability are a must.

Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
