Job description

Plan International UK is a global children’s charity. We strive to advance children’s rights and equality for girls all over the world.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we're tackling the root causes of gender inequality and child poverty, and we are now active in more than 70 countries worldwide.

We are currently looking for a hard-working Mail Assistant to join our Workplace and Facilities Team, who deliver an efficient and safe working environment for employees, volunteers, tenants, and visitors to our Head Office near Old Street.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and sorting all incoming mail and delivering it to the relevant departments
  • Managing all outgoing mail, both through Royal Mail and international shipping couriers to our Plan International offices worldwide
  • Booking couriers for UK and overseas shipments
  • Monitoring mailroom stationery resources, liaising with suppliers and the Workplace & Facilities team to ensure sufficient stock levels
  • Processing of mailroom invoices for payment

You’ll also assist with the set-up of meeting rooms and provide cover for reception and switchboard as required through the day.

We are looking for strong customer service experience, good admin skills and the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel proficiently. Ideally, you will have experience of working in a commercial mailroom but more important than this is an interest in developing a career in Facilities management.

For further detail of this role, please see the job profile. Please refer closely to the Person Specification section during your application, to demonstrate your suitability for the role.

We are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children, young people and adults in our work. We, therefore, apply rigorous recruitment and selection processes to ensure that only those who are suitable are recruited to work for us.

Accordingly, appointment to all our roles is subject to a range of vetting checks. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working for us; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences
