Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Mechanical group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Maintenance Mechanic.
Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our MFC facilities with every Friday off!
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform journeyman-level mechanical maintenance duties on facilities and equipment.
- Inspect, operate, fine-tune, repair, install, and perform preventative, predictive, corrective and modification maintenance on mechanical systems and components, such as diesel generators.
- Participate in work planning walk downs and work-hour estimating.
- Perform on the job training (OJT) for other craftspeople, as required.
- Participate in maintenance assessments, as required.
- Perform job and shop Lead functions, as required.
- HEPA filter testing.
- Coupling and alignment of mechanical equipment.
- Critically analyze design requirements, experimental plans, standard processes, etc, and propose appropriate alternatives.
- Continually increase knowledge base and skill associated with technical specialty.
- Function independently within policy and procedural direction from management.
- Work with management to implement established policies and procedures.
- Ensure HPI tools and strong safety culture principles are embedded into daily activities.
- Report progress appropriately to project and line managers.
- Serve as a resource to peers, junior staff, and management.
- Locate and use blueprints, drawings, and schematics for installation and fixing of mechanical equipment.
- Locate and requisition spare parts from the warehouse.
- Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and other technical documents.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Graduate/GED plus 2 year Vocational training and 3 years of applicable experience, or High School Graduate/GED and 5 years of applicable experience.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information
- Salary: $35.59/hour (Rate can vary based upon individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. Rates are accurate for current posting and subject to change. These are bargaining unit positions.)
