DESCRIPTION:

Maintenance Supervisor I for Nassau BOCES as a Senior Manager II: The Maintenance Supervisor I will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day facilities maintenance operations and upkeep of facilities/program equipment throughout the Agency. The successful candidate will exercise independent judgment in ensuring all assigned duties are completed timely and efficiently. The Maintenance Supervisor I will supervise assigned staff, manage outside maintenance contracts, assess program needs and delegate assignments to skilled and semi-skilled personnel. The incumbent will have the knowledge and mindset to implement modern large-scale building and grounds maintenance practices. This includes regularly inspecting buildings to determine the condition of structural components and electrical and mechanical equipment, along with preparing and submitting reports recommending work assignments as needed. The successful candidate should also be able to prepare requisitions, maintain inventory, perform building inspections, report progress of work assignments and perform related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Six years of experience as a skilled maintenance worker.
• Vocational school education or high school education including or supplemented by shop courses may be substituted for experience as outlined above on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years.
