Job description
General labor has responsibility for general sanitation, ingredient dumping, and end of line production tasks. This position relies heavily on following standard operating procedures for repetitive tasks. This position is a critical member of the food safety function and helps maintain strict GMP requirements. This position is required to support, implement, and maintain food safety practices as required through SQF. Will be responsible for completing job duties in a manner that supports all plant safety, food safety, quality, and environmental practices.
Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts following a 2-2-3 schedule (Week one: two days on, two days off, three days on. Week two: two days off, two days on, three days off) resulting in built-in overtime pay and having every-other weekend off-work.
Pay Rate: $18.02/hour
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs general sanitation within general facilities and GMP support areas.
- Supports end of line production by tote packing, ingredient dumping, case or tote folding, non-compliance inspection and rework, sampling, waste handling, loading shells and cases into packaging equipment.
- Supports special and trial packaging formats that have not been automated.
- Can safely operate Material Handling/inventory management equipment, such as scan guns, forklifts, pallet jacks, as required.
- Processing tasks may include: mixing vitamins, reading PLC Screens, following processing cleaning instructions, operating dryers, operating mill room equipment, extruders and cookers. GL2’s may do limited tasks in processing, they will not operate any equipment using high pressure steam. These tasks are dependent on training completion.
- Performs Quality Assurance checks after training completion.
- Completes required training for all job responsibilities.
- Food manufacturing or related experience preferred but not necessary.
- Good work history and acceptable attendance.
- Basic level math and computer skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment and build positive professional relationships.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form in English.
- Takes responsibility for ensuring work is completed within time and quality parameters.
- Ability to solve basic problems where standardizations/alternatives exist.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Standing, kneeling, climbing and walking for extended periods of the day; capable of repetitive gripping, pinching, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling with weight ranges up to 50 pounds; ability to perform repeated twisting, bending and reaching of upper and lower extremities; exposure to hot and/or humid environments, heights up to 15 feet, working on ladders, and confined spaces (non permit required)and performing LOTO.
