Job description
As a result of successful career progression of the current post holder, we are looking to appoint Head of Department Personal Assistant, to support the Head of Department in the Department of Earth and Environment Sciences, https://www.ees.manchester.ac.uk/ supporting the current Head of Department. This position is permanent.
Additionally The School of Natural Sciences is looking to appoint a School of Natural Sciences Personal Assistant in the Head of School Office , to support Chris Hardacre, Vice Dean and Head of School and Sam Ryder, Head of School Operations. This is a 12 month fixed term contract from start of job and to cover a secondment position.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of Head of Department Personal Assistant colleagues in similar posts across the School, with the opportunity to work within a hybrid model, in different locations across the University estate, and remotely. The role will support the academic Head of Department with responsibilities including managing diary management; organising travel and accommodation for UK and overseas trips; producing regular and effective communication on behalf of the Head of Department; servicing and organising regular meetings and events; maintaining staff records and other departmental records ensuring compliance with GDPR and other legislation.
Experience of working in Higher Education is not essential and we welcome candidates with experience of providing personal assistant support, the successful candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision and to show initiative with good attention to detail.
