Where the Chemistry Happens

Our team is searching for a Senior Packaging Engineer to work at our Research Triangle Park site in NC where you will be operating in a cross-functional environment, having significant involvement with many teams, including Business Marketing, Supply Chain & Operations, Labels, Production sites and Procurement.

As a Senior Packaging Engineer supporting the Agricultural Solutions (AP) businesses, you will ensure our customers are provided an appropriate package suitable for use while safely, legally and cost effectively containing and dispensing the specified product, both packaged and bulk. Established and new packaging options are advanced in consultation with APN and affiliate businesses, with confirmation that our vendor’s packaging materials meet or exceeds our BASF specifications and requirements. This incumbent provides guidance on all packaging related issues such as design, compatibility, filling, testing, transportation, trouble shooting and cost optimization.

As a Senior Packaging Engineer you create chemistry by…

Taking a lead role providing expertise in packaging related activities, while interacting closely across multiple BASF functions and locations and external parties.

Actively participating in cross functional product launch activities, providing strong technical guidance on packaging related topics as an integral part of all product launch teams.

Utilizing strong computer skills to monitor and navigate established systems, applications and procedures supporting our Packaging related activities.

Your formula for success…

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Packaging Science coupled with substantial, relevant, hands-on experience working in a packaging related role.

Demonstrated experience with project teams on all phases of packaging development, from initial concept design through prototyping, testing and implementation into production environments.

Strong computer skills e.g., Microsoft Office applications Excel and Word. Experience in SAP or the ability to quickly acquire SAP proficiency is necessary.

Well-developed problem-solving, organizational and time management skills coupled with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple priorities.

Strong communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills.
