Senior Public Relations Director– Full-Time Contract to Perm Position

Wyn-Win Communications is a minority-certified, Chicago-based boutique communications agency dedicated to helping organizations effectively engage community, customers and other key audiences. We specialize in strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and social responsibility for corporate and nonprofit clients in the areas of healthcare, community, retail and faith-based.

We are seeking a Senior Public Relations Director experienced in media and community relations in Chicago to lead accounts, and serve as part of the management team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leads strategy for clients’ media relations, developing story angles, pitching media and cultivating and maintaining media relationships.
• Leads community relations, facilitating grassroots initiatives by building bridges to community-based organizations, human service providers and issue advocates.
• Writes materials across multiple formats (e.g., press releases, brochures, speeches, social media)..
• Interacts regularly with community leaders, virtually and in-person.
• Develops communications plans for clients.
• Keeps abreast of client-related issues, ongoing media coverage and upcoming community events.
• Performs account management tasks, e.g., meeting agendas, recaps, activity reports, invoices.
• Assists in new business pursuits as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Strong client management skills, able to interact with various levels of staff and clients while demonstrating a high level of flexibility, adaptability, initiative and self-reliance
• Dedication to proactively plan, execute and follow-through; detail-oriented; positive, can-do attitude
• Excellence in time and project management; well-organized; able to manage multiple projects, deliverables and deadlines simultaneously
• Positive, constructive, resourceful approach to difficult or stressful situations
• Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to proactively problem-solve
• Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
• Intermediate to advanced skills using Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint; comfortable with a variety of software such as Google Enterprise, SmartSheet and Critical Mention

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Public Relations or related field
• At least 5-7 years of related professional experience
• Proven ability to manage media and community relations efforts; existing relationships with Chicago media and community leaders a strong plus
• Experience coordinating multiple projects and meeting deadlines
• Previous PR agency experience is highly desired
• Experience in social media and website content a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $137,000.00 per year
