We are looking for a Siding installer of any level of experience to join our team. You will apply siding and install prefabricated doors and windows to exterior wall panels of prefabricated and modular homes, following work orders and using hand tools. After a trial period you will get an opportunity to join the St. Louis- Kansas City Carpenters Union and the benefits that come with it.
To succeed in this role, you should have the ability to use hand tools, and stand on ladders and scaffolds for long hours at a time. Siding Responsibilities:
- Lay out siding on sheathing, and cut siding to fit, using square and hand or portable power saw.
- Fasten siding to sheathing using hammer, nails, and power tacker.
- Drill vent holes in wall panels, using power drill, and inserts vents.
- Fasten tarpaper weather stripping around perimeter of door and window openings, using power tacker.
- Position and align windows and doors in openings, using tape measure.
- Fasten doors and windows to wall panel studs, using hammer and nails.
- Move completed panels to storage area, using electric hoist.
- May also install precut insulation between wall studs.
Requirements and Skills:
- Experience as a sider or a similar role in construction preferred
- Excellent carpentry skills
- Experience using various hand tools and equipment, such as scaffolds, taking safety rules into consideration
- Ability to work at heights for long hours
- An apprenticeship or license in siding or relevant field is a plus
- Able to pass a drug test
