We are looking to appoint a Driver / General Assistant at Yorkcraft.


Yorkcraft provides supported employment for people with disabilities who have more complex barriers to finding and keeping work. With the right support employees are able to make a valuable contribution in their job and where appropriate, develop and progress to open employment within the local community.


This is an opportunity to join a committed, hard working small team.


Key tasks include :


  • Driving Yorkcraft vehicles and employees to enable external work to be completed. This may include light removals, the collection of storage of records and confidential waste, deliveries and gardening
  • Performing daily vehicle cheks prior to taking out a vehicle as set out in the driver’s code of practice and completing the appropriate paperwork
  • Assisting with the mentoring, induction and training of new employees, both on work experience and in paid employment
  • As part of a team, to participate in production and all other work activities as required

Good comunication and interpersonal skills are necessary. You will be self motivated and able to motivate others.


A driving licence and an enhanced DBS check will be required.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language.
