This creates a unique career opportunity for a financial manager to establish a robust financial operating system in the company and grow with the role.

Position Description:

In this position, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a wide range of financial, accounting, bookkeeping, administrative, purchasing, vendor management and operational systems. This strategic role will work directly with the executive team, collaborating with both the CEO and CCO daily. This position will lead the accounting, operations, and administrative functions within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Required to handle accounting, purchase orders, invoices, receivables, payables, budgets, expense reports, and vendor management
  • Manage expense forecasts and expense reporting systems.
  • Primary point of contact with CPA for month-end and year-end close process.
  • Support preparation of financial reports for senior management and external parties. Be go-to person for senior management's questions and concerns regarding financial reports.
  • Primary point of contact for NSF and other governmental grant programs
  • Implement and enforce HR/operational and accounting policies and procedures, including on-boarding, benefits management, contract negotiations, and administration
  • Own payroll, 401K and benefits process.
  • Identify areas for process and procedure improvements, both within the accounting department and company-wide, with a focus on better utilization of technology that drives improvements and enhances innovation.
  • Lead special projects, including selecting and implementing new software systems for ERP, QMS, and vendor EDI coordination. Handle external communications, including answering, screening and re-directing calls to appropriate persons
  • Lead sourcing outstanding candidates, tracking applicants, managing a pipeline, and building and maintaining an effective team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field. Graduate degree and CPA preferred, but not required
  • 5+ years of accounting working history
  • Experience growing and scaling in a startup environment
  • Mastery of QuickBooks Online and TSheets
  • Comfort linking financial data to actionable business objectives
  • Familiarity with ERP, FP&A, treasury, audit, and international tax experience a bonus
  • Arsenal fans strongly preferred, Manchester United fans tolerated, and Tottenham fans not considered
