Summary

The laboratory is currently seeking a highly motivated medicinal chemist with broad drug discovery experience and strong problem-solving skills in organic and medicinal chemistry to join the new drug discovery team. The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team with the goal of identifying clinical candidates to address unmet medical needs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a drug discovery project
  • Design the highest quality small molecules/peptide analogues to meet project’s need
  • Independently design, troubleshoot and execute synthetic routes
  • Performs the purification and characterization of synthesized compounds using modern chromatographic and analytical techniques, including flash chromatography, prep-LC, TLC, HPLC, LCMS and NMR et al.
  • Maintains high level of scientific integrity and laboratory safety
  • Effectively communicates new project proposals, medicinal chemistry strategies, innovative ideas and results at the meetings with colleagues or management
  • Work collaboratively across diverse functions within and across multidisciplinary project teams including protecting intellectual properties in collaboration with legal team.
  • Managing CRO to ensure project progress.

Required Education and Qualification

  • PhD degree in organic/medicinal chemistry is required, in addition to a minimum of 5+ years of industrial drug discovery experience.
  • Demonstrated experience on modern drug design including prodrug design, ligand-based, and structure-based drug design
  • Familiarity with structure-activity and structure-property relationship studies.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing complex synthetic schemes including asymmetric organic synthesis.
  • Experience functioning within multi-disciplinary teams and utilizing cross-functional information, such as biological activity, ADME and pharmacological data, to drive medicinal chemistry strategies
  • A team player who listens effectively and invites response and discussion
  • A collaborator who communicates in an open, clear, complete, timely and consistent manner
