RTI designs and manufactures specialized test sockets, test fixtures, and ATE interface fixtures for the semiconductor and related electronics industry. RTI also designs and manufactures semiconductor test equipment for failure analysis of semiconductors. RTI has in-house electrical and PCB design, mechanical design including CAD solid modeling, CAM, an advanced in-house CNC machine shop as well as electronic assembly and test areas.

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer is a hands-on mechanical design position and is responsible for performing moderately difficult sustaining and design engineering tasks. This includes modifications, analysis, design, modeling, assembly and testing of mechanical test fixtures and electro-mechanical products. The Mechanical Engineer will work with customer requirements and instructions from the project scope to develop quality engineering test solutions. Applies industry and company standards to design tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • 3D design of mechanical assemblies and individual parts
  • Generate detailed mechanical drawings using drafting standards, dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Project responsibility for specific customer projects
  • Utilization of MRP system for bill of materials input and coordination
  • Responsible for the generation of customer specifications
  • Coordination of electromechanical interfaces, selection of components, specifications for the PCB design, and aid in the assembly and test of the product
  • Define assembly and test procedures for products
  • Understand and maintain high quality of work.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • Understanding of mechanical design standards for manufacturability
  • Experience with 3D CAD system (Solid Edge experience a plus)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, coupled with a well-focused attention to detail
  • Able to create and implement assembly processes and documentation
  • Excellent communication, presentation & collaboration skills

Helpful Knowledge and Experience:

  • Related design experience in designing semiconductor test sockets
  • Design of small temperature chambers or knowledge of heat transfer and temperature controllers
  • Knowledge of semiconductor and hybrid packaging
  • Experience in designing test fixtures and custom test equipment for the semiconductor, hybrid or PCB industry
  • Experience in semiconductor device and packaging failure analysis
  • Knowledge of basic electrical components including connectors and cabling
  • Basic understanding of PCB design, layout and related electrical characteristics
  • Experience in any of the following: test fixture design, semiconductor device or package failure analysis, design of custom test systems for semiconductors, design of IC package handling equipment, design of temperature chambers, or other directly related experience or education

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
