The Company

Halifax Fertilizer is a custom blend fertilizer business that uses raw materials in the production of bagged fertilizers. We sell directly to end users, distributors, as well as private label accounts.

Job Purpose

Provide exceptional leadership, communication, and professionalism in the daily management of the manufacturing plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Budgeting

§ Labor

· Manage and track labor costs, including overtime hours

§ Repair and maintenance

· Maintain and build relationships with vendors

· Scheduling downtime for R&M (communicate with sales team)

· Manage and track maintenance costs

· Human Resources

§ Ensures appropriate staffing

§ Provide support and direction to hourly employees

§ Safety training protocols as set forth by company policy

· Inventory Management

§ Ordering

§ Forecasting

§ Monthly inventory counts

§ Inventory discrepancies

§ Assists with scheduling of both inbound and outbound product

· Safety

§ Adhere and maintain all safety guidelines as set forth by company policy

§ Provide regular safety training for all members of staff

§ Fosters a safe work environment

· Environmental Stewardship

§ Ensure that we are in compliance with all state and federal regulations

§ Maintain a “clean” facility

· Customer Service

§ Expected to assist customers over the phone

§ Delivery ticket/invoicing discrepancies

§ Scheduling product deliveries

§ Directing sales support activities of multiple salespeople

§ Assist/maintain product registrations with state regulators

· Quality Assurance

§ Accurate bag weights

§ Lot no. creation

§ Ensure that only well-presented product leaves facility

Education and/or Experience

· College degree preferred

· 10+ years in management leadership role

· An agricultural background is a positive

· Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

· Computer literate and ability to use operating software

Work Environment

· Expected to be at the facility everyday

· Travel to company and trade meetings with possibly infrequent overnight stays

· Expected to know the role and function of each employee so that accountability can be maintained
