The Privacy Coordinator supports the Privacy Team as part of the Legal and Compliance Function. This role provides the first point of contact for Asda colleagues with questions about Privacy and Data Protection. The Privacy Coordinator is the primary point of support for the Data Subject Rights Process and the colleagues who work within this process. You'll be responsible for coordinating activity across a variety of areas - including providing Data Protection advice; responding to incidents; reviewing triage assessments; progressing assessments of Privacy and Data Protection risk and maintaining records.
What you'll do:
- You will triage and monitor all Privacy and Data Protection queries from colleagues across Asda – ensuring each is reviewed, directed to the right part of the team, responded to in a timely manner and, where necessary, the outcome is recorded.
- You will provide frontline Privacy and Data Protection advice, initiate Privacy Risk Assessments, review and respond to Triage form submissions and support the business to complete actions assessment actions required.
- You will operate within the OneTrust platform to create and maintain accurate records of activities and connected assessments.
- You will oversee and manage Asda's Data Subject Rights Process and handle escalated requests as required, with assistance from the Privacy Manager.
- You will be responsible for the administration of the Privacy Incident Management Process alongside the Privacy Manager.
- You will be required to operate in and engage with other parts of the business - such as our Operations, Customer Services, Data Governance, Information Security and Technology teams to source required information, initiate actions and coordinate responses.
Knowledge
- This role requires an understanding of the principles of Data Protection and Privacy law - and an appetite to continue to learn.
Communicating and Influencing
- Excellent written communication skills and confidence in providing excellent service to both internal and external customers in complex scenarios.
- The ability to explain complex topics in simple and engaging language in order to influence other teams.
- The ability to provide instruction to other teams on how to respond to Privacy and Data Protection related scenarios – and to hold other teams to account for delivery to a timeline.
- The ability to balance commercial objectives with Privacy and Data Protection best practice in order to deliver pragmatic advice.
Freedom to Think and Act
- You'll use policies, process guides and templates to inform your actions - but every incident, assessment and request is unique. You'll be confident in applying your knowledge to tailor your response and demonstrate good judgement when using your initiative.
- You'll be confident in recognising where a topic requires further escalation to the Privacy Manager.
Experience
- Demonstrates confidence in managing a high volume, varied case load.
- Experience in coordinating responses or actions in a regulated or compliance environment.
- Any experience in the OneTrust platform would be a bonus.
- CIPP/E qualification is desirable – or a willingness to study towards this within 6 months.
