  • PO8: £61,206 per annum, rising in annual increments to £65,589

Permanent and Full Time

Lambeth is a vibrant and diverse inner London borough. Lambeth Council is committed to improving the health of residents and reducing inequalities across the borough. Our local place based integration across health and care “Lambeth Together” is well established with joint management and leadership across the Council and NHS. There are also strong links to academic institutions.

This is an exciting senior role within the public health team to provide leadership and oversight of the health protection function. The role offers flexible working arrangements and a supportive learning environment with development opportunities. It provides an opportunity to progress across grades or onboard at the higher grade based on demonstration of the relevant knowledge, skills and experience.

The post holder will lead programmes of work covering a range of health protection issues which require reactive, responsive and preventative approaches. They will be able to work independently and with a high level of credibility, probity, and accountability, without the need for substantial supervision.

The post holder will have responsibility for developing and maintaining close working relationships both internally and with partner organisations. They will play a key role in shaping and assuring the health protection function and reducing inequalities, which may include managing individuals and teams, and ensuring delivery of high-quality prevention, response and support systems.

Lambeth was significantly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, with high infection rates, numerous outbreaks across care settings, schools and prison and a vaccine hesitant population. The post holder will play a pivotal role working with partners to build on and maximise the public health benefits and legacies of programmes to tackle vaccine hesitancy and a distrust of health services as well as covering a broader portfolio of health protection.

Lambeth Council is based in Brixton and there is an expectation that you will be in the borough at least a couple of days a week to collaborate with colleagues and connect to the borough.
