Qualifications/Job Requirements:
- Must be able to read and comprehend, with ability to compare incoming materials with purchase orders.
- Requires two years’ experience in receiving / warehouse function.
- Must be computer literate, able to work with word processing and spreadsheet applications, detailed clerical skills, able to communicate with customers in a professional manner using the telephone and able to learn and use company business software.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, able to transport up to 75 pounds, operate a forklift and a pallet jack
Duties and Responsibilities:
Shipping
- Generates accurate documentation for shipments which will include:
- Motor freight bill of lading.
- Air bills.
- Shippers Letter of Instruction.
- Invoices for required shipments.
- Dangerous Goods Declarations.
- Customs required documentation.
- Any documents required to assure the customer’s order transports in a timely manner.
- Schedules carriers to pick up shipments and provides carriers with required documentation.
- Provides routing information and transit times for marketing’s exhibition freight.
- Coordinates with market manager any shipment details and documentation required for drayage companies.
- Provides International Department with shipping details for quotes.
- Provides quotes for domestic and Canadian shipments.
- Assists customers with questions about shipping and dangerous goods.
- Assists with maintaining shipping weights and dimensions of products.
Receiving
- Verifies carton/piece count of deliveries and signs for delivery receipt and notes any discrepancies of count or condition on delivery receipt.
- Checks and verifies received products within 24 hours of delivery.
- Compares vendor supplied packing list to purchase order.
- Verifies accurate count, type and condition of products ordered.
- Notifies carrier and purchasing when shortage of cartons.
- Notifies Purchasing of any other discrepancies or problems concerning count or type of products on purchase order vs products delivered.
- Documents the date and quantity of each item received on the Receiving Purchase order copy.
- Uses WMS scanner to enter receiving data in Epicor/computer and attaches WMS generated barcode label to each carton or item.
- Enters receiving data directly into Epicor/computer for items that do not have raw material numbers.
- Delivers all received materials to appropriate location.
- Rotates stock of materials when putting new inventory away.
- Follows specific Personal Protective wear when delivering materials in other areas.
- Generates Epicor “Receiving Audit Trail” Report and distributes to accounting daily.
- Processes returned goods.
- Assigns locations to raw materials as needed.
- Handles location transfers and consolidations of raw materials as needed.
- Creates new Epicor locations if needed.
- Enters lot numbers of received reagents into LIMS database.
- Enters RMA information into VTIGER for all meter and non-meter returns.
- Operates a forklift and pallet jack, as needed, to transport materials/orders, etc.
NOTE: All duties are essential functions of the job.
Miscellaneous:
- Participates in lean activities, including but not limited to
- Lean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5-day event.
- 5-S program in the department(s) assigned.
- DMAICs. Continuously looks for ways to improve both departments and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly.
- Notifies Managers of any production, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc. and cooperates in resolving such issues as well. For example, requests assistance when systems prevent the efficient performance of duties or when a system fails.
- Provides Managers with feedback to determine where additional training would benefit and obtains additional training as necessary.
- Complies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).
- Performs other Manufacturing/Production duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned. (Such duties may or may not be essential functions of the job.)
Environmental Factors & Physical Demands:
- Primarily works indoors in temperature-controlled environment. However, is exposed to varying temperatures in the receiving bay, and the elements when entering/exiting storage trailers or the garage.
- Requires walking, stooping, bending, reaching, transporting up to 75 pounds, occasional climbing, and operating a forklift and a pallet jack.
- Requires good math skills, computer skills, typing skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, decision-making skills and judgment.
