About the role
The Social Media Assistant is a key role within the social media team. You will support the delivery of a range of social media content across all core channels. This will include writing creative copy and scheduling the content for social media posts for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook LinkedIn, and TikTok. A degree is not essential, but you will have experience using social media platforms in a professional environment and specifically within higher education. Good copywriting, good grammar and spelling are essential to the role. As are, excellent organisational and time management skills.
Principal accountabilities
- Writing creative copy for social media posts across several channels, ensuring it is aligned to our brand tone of voice
- Scheduling content to be delivered via our social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn, TikTok)
- Working with teams across the university to collaborate on social content projects
- Generating ideas for content, which is linked to key areas of focus
- Supporting with ad-hoc research tasks, such as competitor monitoring, and projects related to social media
- Supporting with the evaluation and reporting of social media activity

Qualifications
- A relevant degree/equivalent qualifications, or specific knowledge gained through work experience.
Experience
- Experience of using social media platforms in a professional environment and specifically within higher education
- Experience of creating social media content for different channels and different audiences
- Experience of scheduling content on Hootsuite
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Experience of working with a wide range of colleagues with different needs
Skills, knowledge & abilities
- Good copywriting skills
- Good grammar and spelling with attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
