Be part of the Old Colony YMCA's mission to help young leaders develop personally and professionally through hands on learning and training. You will work directly with teens and program staff to help mentor young leaders at camp as they learn to be role models themselves to our campers.Requirements:
PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:
Serve as liaison to Plymouth Public Schools
Serve as liaison to camp directors and camp personnel hosting Y Leaders
Lead workshops in the public schools to increase life skills and prepare youth for the leadership program
Oversee youth leadership training including mentoring training, YMCA camp training and volunteer training, and basic skills in working with young children
Coordinate leadership activities and field trips
Develop life skill activities for young leaders who will support life skill development and promote positive relationship building
Oversee mentoring activities and literacy supports provided to campers by the Y Leaders
Report any suspected child abuse and serve as liaison between volunteers/foster families and community agencies/resources
Assist with office management responsibilities
Collect data as needed
SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL:
Supervise staff in providing youth development training, conducting life skill and leadership groups and activities with Y Leaders
Overseeing Y Leaders mentoring activities at the YMCA camp.
III. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Adhere to fiscal policies and procedures such as petty cash, purchase orders, vouchers, employee expense, and monthly stats (billing as appropriate)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ability to drive car several hours per day; valid driver's license; good driving record
Ability to communicate with clients, families, volunteers and collaterals in person and by phone
Ability to maintain daily attendance and scheduling flexibility to include working nights and weekends
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Camp and/or teaching experience preferred
Minimum two years' experience facilitating youth trainings
Minimum two years' experience working with teens or in mentoring programs
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Must be able to walk, sit, bend, and stoop as needed
