Job description
Are you a brilliant manager who creates a collaborative and supportive team environment but who also isn’t afraid of disruptive ideas to improve efficiency and wellbeing?

We are looking for someone who:
  • Has experience of leading a team;
  • Is an excellent line manager and can support development and empowerment in others;
  • Is an effective communicator, collaborates and develops strong working relationships and networks;
  • Can develop a good sense of the bigger picture with any project or process, identifying and focusing on key risks and opportunities; and
  • Has a continuous improvement focus, seeks innovative solutions and implements groundbreaking change to ensure efficient and effective services are delivered.
Would you enjoy transforming the way we support our researchers to help get pioneering research projects off the ground and transform the world? The University of Sheffield is a world top-100 university, and its research has had a significantly positive impact on lives across the globe. We have created this new role to provide dedicated leadership to the Research Contracts Team. It would be helpful if you have experience of working with contracts, but we will support you with training and guidance so that you can transfer your existing leadership skills to develop a team of professional experts.

The current challenges for team are the increase in volume and complexity of contracts and an evolving external environment resulting in new forms of compliance and regulation. Alongside managing the team, this role is focused on implementing more efficient ways of working. You will need to investigate ideas and utilise novel approaches to reduce pressure on the team whilst delivering improved services to fulfil the needs of service users and manage their expectations.

You will work approximately 50% on campus and 50% remotely. You will have good professional development opportunities, and CPD opportunities to develop experience with issues in contracts, with an employer which values and promotes equality, diversity and inclusion.

We are committed to enabling our employees to work in a hybrid model with flexibility over when, where and how to achieve the required outputs, in discussion with your manager.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
