The Data Insight & Analytics Team within Asda Technology is going through major expansion, with plans to increase rapidly in size over the coming months.

We're looking for an experienced Technical Delivery Manager to join the Asda Technology Data Insight & Analytics team. You'll be working alongside a highly motivated team and report to the Senior Manager Data Engineering & Development. You will lead a cross-functional engineering team, using Agile methodologies to drive data deliveries.

Your Role

• Providing technical advice and line management for colleagues in the team.
• Responsible for the delivery of development activity on assigned projects, managing the workload of a team of Developers and Testers.
• Owning and managing the development team plan. Overall responsibility for creating and keeping the development plan up to date and accurate - e.g. on Jira, Excel, Microsoft Project
• Ensuring development team resources are creating and maintaining the required artefacts (e.g. requirements, design, data source documents etc)
• Ensuring designs are going to the appropriate review forums when needed
• Ensuring resources are working to full potential and that we have the right development resource on the project based on backlog – escalating to Project Manager if over/under resourced
• Submitting third party development team resource requests and approving/managing quotations in the system
• Supporting technical development team resources to resolve blockers
• Raising/progressing Changes for the development team; ensuring correct process is followed for roll outs and SQL scripts are prepared for the DBAs
• Own and publish road map for your own area
• Escalating blockers that cannot be controlled by the development team or are at risk of being delayed to Project Manager
• Attending (ad hoc) backlog prioritisation meetings to understand context/wider picture Attending cross-team meetings to align development team resources and dates

About You

• Have a background in data development or engineering
• Experience leading on complex projects
• Proficient in SQL coding
• Have a good understanding of Microsoft Azure tooling, preferably with hands on experience
• Knowledge of a collection of Agile frameworks
• Experience of managing teams to deliver quickly and accurately
• Experience with using Agile tools to inform and provide feedback
• The ability to articulate technical concepts.
