Position Summary:
The UAF’s Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration (ACUASI) is recruiting for an Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Remote Pilot with general aviation and UAS aviation background to join our team and help safely integrate UAS into the National Airspace System. ACUASI is a world leader in the UAS field, working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the UAS industry to help develop, test and prove equipment and techniques to allow the use of UAS for a variety of missions such as cargo delivery, infrastructure monitoring, and mammal surveys. The successful candidate will collaborate with other UAS pilots, scientists, researchers, and commercial entities to integrate payloads onto UAS to help achieve the goal of UAS operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule at a grade 80, based on education and experience. ***US CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION. - Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Second Class medical certificate.
- Understanding and knowledge of 14 Code of Federal Regulations.
- Aviation flight experience with unmanned aircraft systems, remote control aircraft and/or manned aircraft..
- Must be a US Citizen per ITAR regulations.
- Speak, read and write fluent English
- Travel both nationally and internationally for extended periods normally not greater than 30 days
- Ability to lift greater than 40 pounds.
- Master's degree in aeronautical engineering or related field plus 2 years manned or unmanned aircraft experience. Preferred equivalent experience is 10 years manned or unmanned aviation experience or 1000 flight hours.
- Pass FAA Private pilot ground school
- Commitment to obtain FAA airplane or helicopter pilot license within six months of employment.
- Minimum private pilot license is required for this position.
10 years aviation experience or 1000 flight hours
This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 80, based on education and experience.
